Another blackout! What is happening in the city of Ember? It’s dark, cold and dreary and the blackout affects their food supply. How can they solve this problem?

The City of Ember is about two people named Doon Harrow and Lina Mayfleet. Lina Mayfleet is a 12 year old girl, who lives with her grandmother and her sister, Poppy. Lina loves to explore Ember and the surrounding area up to the unknown regions, however on assignment day she draws Pipeworks.

Doon is a 12 year old boy who loves to collect beetles and worms. He is interested in the city generator job, but on assignment day he draws the job of Messenger. Lina and Doon gladly exchange assignments and as they begin their new jobs, Lina discovers a note about the generators. Doon then discovers a DO NOT ENTER sign on a closed-in tunnel. Now they must wrok together to solve the mystery of the city of Ember and save the residents from further danger.

This is a great book to read alone or share with friends. I would recommend this book to 4th-6th graders because it has some very exciting adventures. I like how Lina and Doon help everyone in Ember to escape danger. I give this book two thumbs up. If you want to learn more go to http://www.cityofember.com or read the book.
