Instant Millionaire…What Would YOU Do…

stack-of-moneyImagine that you have just won a million dollars. What would you do? Write a narrative(description) about how you would probably react, how you would spend the money, and what would happen.

Remember, don’t just say what you want to do with the money, but write about how you and your life might change. Think of your habits and behaviors now and use that information to help you.

Missoula Art Walk

We had a wonderful time at the Missoula Art Museum and the Missoula Public Library! We learned about the history of the art museum, including its transition from Missoula’s first public library to the wonderful showcase for artists it is today. For our tour, the museum highlighted the works of M.A. Papanek-Miller (A Snowman Cares for its Memory of Water), Sister Corita (Sign Language), and Marie Watt (Heirloom). We learned a whole lot of information from both the docents at the museum and the guide at the library; what was your favorite part of the day?

This month, we were fortunate to have Ms. Cross come visit our room for a special art project. She provided each student with their own art canvas, and led a project having the students paint their favorite animal image. Beginning with the negative space, then filling in the positive…students were able to experiment with shape and form. The canvases brought their creativity to a whole new level…it was really a fun process to watch! Great work you guys and thank you Ms. Cross! Many of the students have artwork showcased in the art show at the mall this month too, so stop by and take a look!

Let’s Go Blog Hopping!!!

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/07/060705-mouse-frog.html

In this new venture into technology use in the classroom, I’m finding that through our connecting with the global world, we all benefit. We need each other…it is fun to share, discuss, and learn from others. For that reason, I am borrowing this blog topic from our friend Mr. C. (Thanks Mr. C!)

This week we are going to go commenting on some classroom blogs! Please leave a comment on at least two of the blogs listed below. Remember, do not use your last name. Please link back to this blog when they ask for a URL (copy and paste from the address bar).

Make sure your comments are positive and relevant (they should have something to do with what is posted). Think through what to say before you craft your writing. Please remember these students and teachers are important and deserve your best work

What Books do You Like to Read?

We are wondering what you like to read! Please respond to our poll. We plan to make a graph when we’re finished, so check back later to see the results. If you would like, you can also add an explanation to the comment strand describing why you chose the books you chose. It is fun to read other readers opinions. Thanks for taking the time to help us with this project!

*If you choose “other”, please write the title of your favorite series or book in the green bar provided. We will think of these as book referrals, so please limit choices to titles appropriate for fifth grade..thanks!

If you have time, please also post “others” in the comment strand …we’d love our readers to see the compiled list as well.
